About the Artist

Drawing and painting has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember and, when at the age of nine I lost my hearing temporarily, it became incredibly important. The visual world, with all of its colours and textures, seemed magnified and from that time on I looked at life from a slightly different angle.

Encouraged to create, experiment and further my studies by enthusiastic parents, I studied Fine Art at York College of Art, Nottingham and Leeds Universities.

After college I went into teaching but my dream was always to become a Full Time Professional artist.

The dream eventually came true. I am delighted by the fact that my paintings are in Private collections around the world and have been featured in magazines such as Linda Barker’s section in the Daily Express.

Influences include the decorative paintings of Gustav Klimt, Georgia O’Keefe’s incredibly vibrant depictions of Flora, Gauguin and the intricate drawings of Escher.

I love to experiment with a variety of materials and my research into the impact of light on the Landscape has led me to my current Semi Abstract work, with its highly textured surfaces and vibrant colours.

Nature is a source of inspiration for my painting and when out on location finding the smallest hidden tangle of vegetation, a fallen leaf or flower head will keep me happy and challenged for hours!
